Linking you to resources and support in the lung cancer community!

I had my bronchoscopy/biopsy on Feb. 14 (nice Valentine's Day...).

The doctor said the procedure went well, but didn't indicate one way or the other what he may have found.  I get the results Friday.

I am expecting a diagnosis of Stage IV, so I am sitting at home terrified of what comes next.

Thanks for your support,

Kath

Hi Kath, Why are you expecting Stage IV? I guess sometimes it's best to expect the worst but it can also help to have a positive outlook. Even if it is Stage IV, maintain a good attitude and you can do well. Let us know what you find out Friday. Good luck, God bless and keep the faith...

Thanks, David.

My terror is the following:  The PET scan said that the "The pattern of distribution is consistent with metastatic lung cancer, with the primary site likely the metabolically active left parahilar lung nodule."

Kath

Hi Kath,

Any new news? I think you were supposed to find out the results on Friday.

Let us know if you have anything new to report! Hang in there!

Hi Kath,

Ugh, yeah - the waiting can be awful. You mentioned in your other post that there were some signs of cancer in the left lung, lymph nodes, and adrenal gland. Even if it is stage 4, it's important for you to know that there are survivors of stage 4 disease. I know the stats you find online are scary but just keep in mind that survivors exist. We know a lot of them!

The biopsy isn't so much about staging you (although it can provide good information) but more to determine what type of cancer or lung cancer it is. That will give your doctors better information to help them decide what treatment options will be the best for you.

Hang in there!

Amy

Hey Kath:  The best thing to do is NOT to read all the internet information postings..........sorta like calling IRS and asking a question...........ask (read) 10 different people (articles) and you'll get 10 different answers.  My feeling is the net leads to unnecessary confusion and worry for us............

We have used our docs (and nurses) as sole information sources for reliable info.  Unfortunately, which I'm sure you are finding, many of the bits of info we receive are based upon 'best guess' scenarios..............it boils down to our having faith (or not) in our  medical caregivers.  If not, it says we should probably be looking for a second or more opinion.

Whatever the results of your bronch/biopsy........please saty strong and keep your faith together.........you're not alone on this trip.....we're along for the ride with you.
