Linking you to resources and support in the lung cancer community!

Sadly, I lost my sister to lung cancer on April 2,2011. Laurel was diagnosed just one month prior to her death
Sadly she was the 7th family member to have lung cancer.

My nephew age 30, my mother aged 64, my brother aged 57, my sister aged 66 my daughter aged 47, and sister aged 72 have all died from lung cancer. I also have had lung cancer, but luckily it was found out early, and 6 years ago i had a left upper lobe removed,  and am now doing ok. We certainly need to continue to write to our congressmen and get additional funding for lung cancer research

Doris,

I am so sorry to hear about your sister and the lost of all of your other family members.  Nothing can help I know but I have a saying I like to hold on too and it is:  "when someone you love passes, they become a memory, and that memory becomes a treasure" and I know you have a treasure chest full.  I lost my mother and brother to cancer but all different kinds.  ((hugs))

Diana,

So sorry about your loss of your mother and brother, and what a wonderful saying We both have "treasures"

Bless You for the kind words    Doris

Hi Doris,

I'm sorry to hear about your sister. You have certainly been affected by lung cancer. I lost my grandfather to lung cancer and my mom currently has stage IV. I hope one day lung cancer is in the public's eye just as much as breast cancer and that we get additional funding.

I am your so sorry to hear mom has stage IV lung cancer.. And that your grandfather died from it. As you said hopefully we will get screening tests approved for this dreadful disease. And you be sure and get checked as it may be a tendency to be in your family
Hi Doris, I'm so very sorry to hear of your familys sorrows. I believe someone has a plan for us. I am an 11 yr survivor of non small cell. We do deserve a cure and nothing else will do.
Nice to make your aquaintance.
God bless, John

Hi John,

Great to know you are an 11 year survivor Hopefully research will find a cure soon. Last time I went to a support group, they said real soon lung cancer will be a chronic disease kept in remission with the new drugs they are coming out with.  Great news for stage 3 or 4 patients.

God Bless  and have a Happy Easter

Doris -  I am so sorry to hear about the loss of your sister.  You and your family have been through more than any family should have to deal with and with the same horrible cancer.  You are all in my thoughts and prayers.

God bless.

Maribeth

Maribeth,

Thank you for your kind words and prayers.

Hopefully soon they will find a cure for this horrible disease

Doris

I'm so sorry for your loss. You have sure been through the ringer with this terrible disease. You're absolutely right about the funding for research and for early and better detection methods. The smoking stigma has been discussed many times on here and is probably the biggest reason for the lack of funds for research. This seems to be changing but has a long way to go. Hopefully a better way to handle our disease is right around the corner.   Good luck, God bless and keep the faith...

David

Thank you for the kind words. Those of us who have had the disease, or been affected by it need to keep up the fight for additional research until a cure is found..

God Bless You also

Doris
