Hi Tammy,

I'm sorry I missed this. I have not heard about this issue but I will look into it and let you know what I find. Maybe others will weigh in too.

Amy

Hi Tammy,

I've been looking into your question about protein and blood in urine. It looks like high level of protein in the urine is a known but fairly rare side effect from Avastin. Is Avastin the only drug you are currently on? I haven't read anything about blood, but if you are having kidney problems as an Avastin side effect, I assume that could cause trace blood as well, though I don't know for sure. What have your doctors said about this?

Amy

Hey Amy,
Its the only chemo type medicine I'm on. I did a twenty four hour urine it had protein in it level was .367 not enough to take me off the Avastin. Friday before I did this urine test I had treatment they checked my urine and it was +4 protein +4 micro blood and +1 rubin they sent the rubin one out it was okay. It seems they don't know. My urine is dirty in drs office but when it is sent out or a cather is done its clean. Not sure what is going on. I'm also seeing a uro/GYN so hopefully when I see him on the 16th of Dec. he'll know something. It's crazy I'm so FUSTRATED. Hopefully someone will beable to tell me something. Thanks if u find out anything pls let me know.
Thanks again

Hi Tammy-

Two people in my in- person support group taking avastin had increased protein in their urine.  I think they stopped the avastin and the protein decreased.  I think one of them is back on the avastin and the other one is not.  They have each been taking the avastin for a number of years.  I do recall they each had to do a 24 hour urine test.   Sorry I do not recall more....I hope this situation improves for you soon.

Stacy

Thanks Stacy for your input. My 24 hr test came back with protein but not high enough to come off the avastin. When, they check my urine before treatment it is high and that's when the blood shows up. Confusing because all my dips are high lately but when they do other testing it's in normal range, hopefuly I'll find answers or go crazy looking for them.LOL thanks again and God Bless You.
