Linking you to resources and support in the lung cancer community!

I'm a new member and not sure where to add my information or topics. Guess I'll find out. I tried to add stuff on My Page without success. I have inoperable stage IIIa squamous cell cancer (left lung to bronchis) and went through daily radiation treatments (30) along with weekly chemo from Nov. 3 to Dec. 16. The pain in my chest from radiation lasted longer than "usual", and I wasn't able to swallow solids. So I've lost a lot of weight (and my appetite). What is making this extra difficult for me is that I had stage IV colon cancer in 02 with a colon and lung resection, then again in 05 with a liver resection. Now I have lung cancer and feel cursed. I'd like some encouragement as my future appears bleak.

Hi Jane,

Gosh, what a long road you have been on. It's hard for people who have recurrences of cancer but you have had to deal with a recurrence AND a second primary cancer. How unfair!

Do you have a sense yet of how your lung tumor responded to the treatments? I know it's hard to think of anything positive when you feel so crummy but there are many people who have had to deal with more than one primary cancer and have seen that cancer become stable at least for many good years. Who knows? Maybe the tumor responded completely. It sounds like you are a pretty strong person for having gone through what you have already had to go through.

I replied to your comments above, and then you sent another message. I have them in my e-mail account but can't find them on this site. Also, what is the difference between the support forum and the blog ? When would you choose one for a discussion and not the other?

Hi Jane,

You had send me a personal email through my profile I assume. I responded to that. But those are not visible to the public. That's just like regular email.

Your question about blogs and forums is relevant because I was just about to post some information about that. In general, the forum is when you have questions or are looking for support or information from others. The blog is for when you want to write about your experience or about other things on your mind but you aren't necessarily looking for feedback or comments from others.

Does that help?
