Went to see my Onogolist plus did my treatment for Avastin. Every time you see the doctor now they give you a patient report. I check it to see what my levels are. I saw my PLT were low compare my normal. Plus I saw my HDL was high on last January treatment. So I called the drs office and the nurse stated that all cancer patients have this enzyme? I went back and checked all my blood work my was normal all the way up until now.
The question is Should I worry because it's high??? Has anyone came into this situation??? Any information will help.

@Amy, talked to my drs nurse again yesterday. She stated my HDL was back down 2/10/2012 when they did my blood work for treatment that day. In fact she stated my. Loos work showed a lot abnormalities. Sugar was high, HDL's, and some other ones were abnormal. Now back to normal except my creatine/protein ratio gone from the 300's to up to close to 700's in three weeks. I'm seeing a Kinney doctor tommorrow so maybe he will have answers. Thanks for the information and help...

Boy, I wish I knew something about this, but I did some hunting online yesterday to see and I couldn't find anything too useful. You mentioned that up til Jan it was normal.  Maybe there is some natural ups and downs and it will go back to normal? If it doesn't, might be worth bringing up again.

@John and David thanks for your input. I've been researching these HDL enzymes they are in your body. Theres different ones for lungs, liver and so on. Still don't understand, something to do with tissues damage etc., hopefully, some me can explain it better on here. I'm surly going to keep up with. I just get so FUSTRATED! It's kinda of ironic that I saw on the news that we need to be our own advocates, because I did see on the news that the percentage was so high on that doctors dont tell you everything...but I will keep you updated when I find out exactly what this is all about. Okay God Bless You.

Hi Tammy, my goodness now we as cancer survivors have to watch this too. All I know is that treatments effect so many things that are in your body. Up, down who knows for sure my best advice is to stay your own advocate and educate yourself to as much as you can handle so you can carry on a conversation with your doctor and don't let them forget that they work for you and to be sure you get your money's worth . As in tests that make sense and ones that should be tracked and watched. Just my two cents but I've found the more involved I became the more the docs were too.

Hi Tammy, I don't know about PLT but my HDL levels were lower than usual and they told me that was often the case with cancer. Thanks for posting. I'll be interested to hear from others about this. Good luck, God bless and keep the faith...

David
