Hi everyone. I am very blessed considering some post I have read so I feel a little like a complainer but I do have questions.

I had surgery almost a month ago and am doing well. I believe they got it all. I will see the dr next week and get an update. Everything has a funny taste to me. Has anyone else experienced this?  I don't have an appetite. What I used to love to eat now makes me queasy.

And this cough, what's that about?? I didn't have one before

OK I'm through venting. Thank you for letting me get it out

Listen venting is a very necessary part of the healing process. You  have every right to. I must say I wanted to eat as soon as I could, so can't identify with that one.  I a praying that your Doctors appt. will go well, that he did indeed "get it all" and you require no chemo or radiation. Next month I will get my 1 year CTscan.  I feel great, have built up my stamina. I am back to walking a mile. Didn't imagine that while blowing into my little "portable" machine.  My grandchildren then 3 and 6, would bring it ot me constantly. Nana see how "high" you can get to. Did you do it 10 times?  I will say a little prayer for you right now while I am thinking about it.

Good Luck, Health and Happiness

Hi Kathy,

I don't know about taste changes - common during chemo but I haven't heard about it with surgery - but the cough is common after surgery. Doing some quick reading, there are some theories that surgery can trigger GERD (gastroesophageal reflux disease) which can cause coughing. There is also some thinking that sometimes lymph node resection can cause some persistent coughing after surgery, though the specific reason isn't clear. I know that hearing "you're normal" isn't going to make the cough go away, but hopefully it will make you feel better knowing that what you are experiencing is common.

Hi Kathy, don't worry about the appetite, it will come back. The funny taste is very common. The only thing I remember liking was chocolate pudding and even that didn't taste as good as usual. I had a cough when I started treatment and it went away gradually.  We are all different and have different experiences. Thanks for sharing.

Good luck, God bless and keep the faith...

David
