Finished five sessions of radiation treatment last Fri, for malignant nodule in lung. Have radiation burn on back. It started out as itch, then burning. Large red area. Have used just Aquaphor on it so far. Anyone have experience with this?

I used to sell Mary Kay cosmetics.  There is a pink night cream that I think helps.  It is very thick and it is used for dry skin people.,  If you get some maybe put a little water on skin and then night cream over it.  I used this on my momma when she had brain cancer.

Good luck & God Bless

David, can I ask, what type of lung cancer did you have?

Esophagus problems are very common during chest radiation. I was given the magic mouthwash to use just prior to eating. It helps but you still have to eat very slowly and find the right foods that work for you. It will go away after about three weeks after your treatments stop. I do have some residual swallowing issues and my reflux is worse since having the treatments.   Good luck, God bless and keep the faith...

Yes, I'm having problems with my esophagus. It really worries me. Feel something different in swallowing, and somewhat of a heartburn feeling. Will it go away soon? Hope so.

Yes, I had the radiation burn on my back mainly and a little bit on the front. I used the aquaphor and aloe vera 100% gel and didn't have a major problem with it. As long as you caught it early it should get too bad. Make sure your R.O. knows and keeps an eye on it. There are prescriprion meds they can give you if it gets out of hand. Have you had any problems with your esophagus? Good luck, God bless and keep the faith...
